More than 3,700 deer-related crashes so far this year

TDOT says so far this year there have been more than 3,700 crashes involving deer.

Most collisions occur in the months of October, November and December, but with the time change, activity increases because testosterone levels in male deer goes up.

Drivers should use extra caution, especially when driving during twilight hours when deer are most active.

Drivers are asked to report all deer-vehicle collisions to police for data collection and monitoring. This allows transportation officials to place signage or take other measures needed to reduce crashes.
